Home Search Tools: Gainesville & North Central Florida
Below is the Quick Home Search form. Use it to get a general idea of what homes or condos are available for sale in your chosen city or zip code by price range and number of bedrooms and baths. You may also want to use Advanced Property Search, Map Search, Address Search, or MLS ID Search. Keep reading to learn when and how to best use these home search tools. Try Advanced Search!
Like Quick Search above, Advanced Search scours MLS property listings for you in Gainesville. Florida and adjacent areas (click View All to select from the complete list of towns and cities. Click MLS Coverage to see this list and an illustrative map on a separate page).
Here, with Advanced Search, along with property type, price range, and the number of beds/baths you want, you can get very choosy about your dream house. See picture below. It shows ‘specs’ you can select for an advanced search. If you don’t know some of the terms, see our Real Estate Buyer’s Glossary. The more selections you make, the fewer results you’ll get, saving you time when you know exactly what you want. If you don’t get any, results, try fewer selections, a larger geographic area (like multiple cities), or contact me, Ben, to ask about new listings that are not on MLS or not advertised yet. Beat other buyers to the punch with my help : ). You can also save your search specifications, or multiple specs, and try again days or months later without having to retype anything. To get started, click on Advanced Search or the image below.
Find Homes for Sale with Clever Map Tools
Welcome to our very cool Map Search tool. It makes it easy to visually locate properties for sale or rent, by choosing a county, city, rural area or specific neighborhood. You can even draw your own map shape and map scale with the clever ‘Polygon Tool.’ More about this tool after I explain basic map searches.
The map you see when first using this tool (unless we change the default view) shows the entire Gainesville Multiple Listing (MLS) coverage areas that have active listings, with cities, major landmarks and round grey icons with ‘+’ symbols. As you likely guessed these icons represent ‘clusters’ of properties for sale. Our firm, Focus Real Estate Group, is based in Gainesville, Florida, and that represents the lion’s share of our listed properties, but we often have listings in rural Alachua County and in the adjacent communities of Alachua, High Springs, Jonesville, Micanopy, Newberry and as far-flung as St. Augustine in St. Johns County—52 Areas in all. Searches show results for all properties listed by MLS, not just homes listed by Focus.
Click Map Search or the image above to start. When you click a housing cluster, you’ll see a smaller map area. In areas with lots of homes for sale, the cluster you click on will ‘divide’ into even more clusters until you see blue ‘house’ symbols, which are individual listings. Perhaps one of them is your dream home! Click on a house icon for a thumbnail view of the property and basic details. Click the thumbnail to see photos, and complete property information, including schools, a neighborhood-walks rating, and a pre-filled mortgage calculator tool. The Refine Search link lets you be more selective. Options include price range, number of beds/baths, and property type options: house, condo, lot/land, multi-unit, mobile home, commercial, rental, or farm.
Draw Your Own Map
Use the Polygon tool (an example above) to draw a custom map to find homes in a certain community or near an elementary school. Click a starting point with your mouse pointer than draw lines, as many as are needed, to encompass the area of interest. Click on an existing point and drag it with your mouse as needed. Complete your map by clicking your starting point. Like the results of other types of searches, these can be saved, organized and commented in the Properties Organizer.
Using the Polygon Tool, we created and saved the map shown above to guide homebuyers to the new Gainesville townhouses development called Celebration Pointe.
